Positioning Statement

Definition

A concise internal declaration of what your brand is, who it is for, what problem it solves, and why it is different from competitors. Usually follows a format: For audience who need, brand is category that delivers key benefit unlike existing alternative.

Why it matters

A clear positioning statement is the foundation of every marketing decision. It answers what goes on the homepage, who you target in ads, and which features to prioritise. Teams without one pull in different directions.

Example

For busy parents who want healthy meals without the planning, FreshNest is the weekly recipe-and-grocery service that delivers ready-to-cook dinners in under 30 minutes, unlike meal kits that leave you with a pile of prep and waste.
