Post-Purchase Experience

Definition

Everything a customer experiences after completing a transaction, including fulfilment, packaging, delivery communication, onboarding, follow-up emails, and support interactions.

Why it matters

Most marketing focuses on acquiring the customer. The post-purchase experience determines whether that customer becomes a repeat buyer, a brand advocate, or a negative reviewer. It is the most underinvested part of the customer journey.

Example

A founder who sells a physical wellness product includes a handwritten thank-you note, a QR code linking to a video usage guide, and an email sequence with tips for the first 30 days. Her repeat purchase rate is nearly triple the industry average.
