Product-Led Sales
Definition
A sales motion where the product itself serves as the primary driver of commercial conversations, with sales teams engaging prospects who are already using a free or trial version and demonstrating genuine intent through their behaviour.
Why it matters
Product-led sales dramatically improves conversion efficiency because prospects enter sales conversations already convinced of the product's value through personal experience. Sales cycles are shorter and close rates are higher than traditional outbound approaches.
Example
A founder's project management tool offers a free tier. Her sales team monitors for free users who invite more than five team members, suggesting growing use and genuine need. Those users receive a personalised outreach offering a demo of the premium tier features they have not yet accessed.
