RPM

Revenue Per Mille

Definition

The revenue a creator or publisher earns per 1,000 views after platform fees, the effective monetisation rate of your content. RPM = (Estimated earnings ÷ Views) × 1,000.

Why it matters

RPM tells you how effectively your content is monetised. Niche business or finance content has RPMs of £10-£30+ on YouTube; general entertainment content might earn £1-£3.

Example

Your YouTube channel gets 200,000 views in October and earns £2,400 from AdSense. RPM = (£2,400 ÷ 200,000) × 1,000 = £12. A business-focused channel with good audience demographics.
