Seasonal Inventory
Definition
Products or stock levels planned around predictable demand patterns tied to seasons, holidays, or annual events, like Christmas, Valentine's Day, or summer.
Why it matters
Misjudging seasonal demand leads to either stockouts (lost sales) or dead stock (cash tied up in unsold product). Getting this right protects margins.
Example
A gift company orders 3x their usual stock of Christmas candles in September to have enough for peak November to December demand.
