Server-Side Rendering

Definition

A technique where web pages are generated on the server and sent to the browser as fully formed HTML, rather than being assembled in the browser from JavaScript, improving initial load speed and search engine visibility.

Why it matters

Server-side rendering is critical for SEO and perceived performance. Pages that arrive pre-rendered load faster for users and are indexed more reliably by search engines than pages that require JavaScript execution before content appears.

Example

A founder's Next.js marketing site uses server-side rendering so every page arrives fully formed in under 300 milliseconds. Google can immediately read and index all content, contributing to strong organic search rankings without any additional SEO tricks.
