Superfan

Definition

A customer or follower who is deeply invested in your brand, purchases repeatedly, advocates enthusiastically without compensation, and provides outsized value to community growth.

Why it matters

Superfans generate disproportionate revenue, word of mouth, and social proof. The 1000 True Fans theory holds that 1,000 superfans willing to spend £100 per year represent £100,000 in reliable annual revenue without any new customer acquisition.

Example

A brand has 50,000 social followers but identifies 200 superfans who buy every launch, share every post, and reply to every story. These 200 people drive 40% of revenue and bring in an average of 5 new customers each per year through organic advocacy.
