Take Rate
Definition
The percentage of the total sales value that a marketplace or platform keeps as its fee.
Why it matters
Take rate is how a marketplace actually makes money; set it too high and sellers leave, too low and you cannot cover your costs.
Example
Sellers sell £100 of goods and you keep £12 in fees, so your take rate is 12%.
