TypeScript

Definition

A superset of JavaScript that adds static type checking. It catches errors before code runs and makes large codebases much easier to maintain safely.

Why it matters

TypeScript is now the industry standard for serious web development. Most modern frameworks and teams use it, understanding it helps you work with developers and review code effectively.

Example

A founder's developer uses TypeScript so when she renames a field in the database, the editor immediately highlights every place the old name is still used.
