Values Alignment

Definition

The state of operating a business in a way that is consistent with the founder's core personal values, ensuring that strategic decisions, partnerships, clients, and working practices reflect what the founder genuinely stands for.

Why it matters

Founders who operate in misalignment with their values experience persistent discomfort, make decisions they regret, and eventually burn out or lose passion for what they built. Alignment creates energy, integrity, and the kind of authentic authority that attracts the right clients and opportunities.

Example

A founder who deeply values creative freedom audits her business and realises she has taken on three retainer clients who demand rigid processes and frequent changes. She decides to end those contracts despite the short-term revenue loss, replacing them with project-based work that respects her working style.
