Waitlist
Definition
A pre-launch or out-of-stock sign-up list where interested customers give their email in exchange for first access when the product becomes available.
Why it matters
A waitlist validates demand before you invest in production, builds a pre-qualified launch audience, and creates social proof through the signal that demand exceeds supply.
Example
You announce a new limited planner design and open a waitlist. 800 people sign up in a week. You produce 1,000 units and email the list first, selling 650 in 24 hours before any public announcement.
