Waitlist Strategy
Definition
A pre-launch approach of collecting email addresses from interested people before a product or service is available, building demand and social proof before going live.
Why it matters
A waitlist creates perceived scarcity, generates a warm audience for launch day, and validates demand before you invest in building. A strong waitlist often predicts a successful launch.
Example
Before building her app, a founder creates a simple landing page: "Join the waitlist for early access." She collects 3,000 emails in 6 weeks, proving demand and building a launch audience.
